What we will claim, and what we will not.
Most matchmaking websites open with a wall of five-star quotes from people whose surnames you will never learn. This one does not, and there is a specific reason for that.
Because we do not have permission yet, and inventing them is illegal.
Aligned Hearts is early. There are people who have been introduced through it, and some of them are still together. There are not yet enough who have given written permission to be quoted by name about the most private area of their lives.
Rather than write quotes and attribute them to invented first names and ages — which is both dishonest and, under the FTC’s rules on consumer testimonials, unlawful — this page is empty of them until real ones exist.
When they do, they will appear here with the person’s permission, and it will say clearly where a name has been changed.
How a matchmaker treats your privacy before you are a client is a reasonable prediction of how they will treat it afterward.
Five questions, and you should ask them of everyone. Including us.

Who actually chooses the names?
If the answer is a team, an algorithm, or a vague “our process”, you have learned something. For the one-to-one service the answer is Samuel, personally, every time.

How many clients do they carry at once?
Ask for the number. A firm carrying two hundred one-to-one clients is not giving any of them two hours of thought a month. Here, the cap is twelve.

Have they met the people they will introduce you to?
Most have not. They are searching a database. Samuel meets his clients and the people he introduces them to, which is why the list stays small.

What happens when it is not working at month three?
Ask specifically. The answer should involve a conversation and a change of approach, not a reminder about your contract.

What do they refuse to promise?
Anybody who guarantees you a relationship is telling you something about their relationship with the truth. The correct answer to “can you guarantee this” is no.
Three outcomes, and all of them count.
You meet someone.
The obvious one, and it happens. Most one-to-one clients meet somebody worth a second date within the first three introductions — not always the third, sometimes the seventh, occasionally the first.
You stop wasting evenings.
Less glamorous and nearly as valuable. Clients routinely say the biggest change was the end of the low-grade weekly disappointment of dates that were never going to go anywhere.
You find out what has actually been happening.
Some people arrive convinced the problem is the supply of decent people and leave understanding it was their photos, or their third-date behaviour, or a type they keep choosing for reasons worth examining. That is worth the money even if nobody is introduced.
Not everyone should hire a matchmaker.
Some people need a year before they are ready, and Samuel has told people exactly that and asked them to come back later. Some decide halfway through that they were not ready, which is its own kind of useful information and not a failure.
Some people want volume, and there are free apps that will hand them volume by the bucket. Some want to be told the problem has always been other people, and there are matchmakers who will say so for a fee.
Anyone showing you nothing but wins is showing you a highlight reel. This works well for a specific kind of person and poorly for others, and the consultation exists to work out which you are before a retainer is signed.
